A Safe Place To Spend Halloween For LGBTQ+ Families

I was looking through the mail this morning and came across this mailer. Up until this point, I had not seen any LGBTQ+ community type centers anywhere except downtown Las Vegas. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this one has sprung up in Henderson Nevada. There are many LGBTQ+ youth in this area. I thought I would tell you all about it here. I haven’t had to chance to go check it out yet. I would love to hear from anyone who has at our facebook page. Let us know what your impression was and what wonderful things they have there. https://www.facebook.com/proudtolove1. They also show that they are in need of donations, if anyone is able to give. I have a ton of clothing I am going to take them.

Of course, everyone needs to socially distance if they are going to celebrate Halloween this year. Many will still go out, but some of us don’t feel that going out and receiving candy from others is not the safest thing we can do for our children. Never fear, there are plenty of things to do this Halloween. Our family started last night by watching a scary movie. We are planning to have at least 2 movie nights a week where we make snacks and watch scary movies in the dark with candles. We forgot the candles last night.

As these nights go forward, we are going to incorporate making scary snacks such as you would for a halloween party. We have a karaoke machine we bought the kids last Christmas that we can use for family karaoke Halloween night. Instead of carving pumpkins, we are going to make vegan pumpkin pies and baked seeds. We may even do a campfire in the back yard with marshmallows.

No matter what you do this year, the important thing is that you make good memories with the things you have been given. Holidays have been molded by society over the years based on what was normal at the time. We have a new normal and it can be whatever you make it. Some of my best memories have been made here stuck in my house with these kids lol. Life is what you make of it.

So this is for Henderson Nevada. What I would love is for anyone reading this to go to the facebook page for proud to love and post pics or information on the centers in your area and what they are doing. We have a goal to make Proud To Love a place where LGBTQ+ family from all over to be able to find the information they need. It takes work, and I need help. There are always those out there that will know more than I do, be better at this than I am, etc. But this is me doing my part and my family and I doing our part to make the world a safer, kinder, more connected place. So I hope to see you there. https://www.facebook.com/proudtolove1
